Feeling vulnerable?

You’re hollow. You’re feeling unsure and naked…the walls that were protecting you, are gone. This is what you’re experiencing when you’re feeling vulnerable. It happens when you develop feelings for someone, meet someone new and open up your heart. This especially applies to people who have ‘control issues’. Trust me, I know what you’re going through. Every person feels vulnerable at many points in their lives. It’s natural. Here’s how to deal with it:

1. It’s OK!
If that person is worth it, accept the feeling.

2. Take a deep breath and let go of the fear.
Don’t sabotage yourself or the relationship with your overthinking. You don’t want to hold yourself back from something that could be incredible!

3.The only way to find out to LIVE and LEARN
The only way to find out is to go all the way and learn from it. No matter how you’re tempted to put your walls up again, DON’T! Allow yourself to feel.

4. Don’t share your insecurities with him/her
Communication is great but this doesn’t mean you have to share every deep insecurity. So share your thoughts and concerns to improve your relationship/communication. Just don’t tell him/her about all your insecurities because it’ll put you at a disadvantage.

5. Have faith and trust
Know that all this happens for a reason and you can choose to trust that it’ll run it’s course and you’ll gain from this experience.

Vanae’s tip of the dae: It’s natural to feel vulnerable, so allow yourself to feel the emotions. Think of yourself as an animal, shedding your outer layer during the right season. You may be vulnerable for a short time, but will develop a stronger and more beautiful shell at the end. It’ll be worth the investment.

How did you deal with the last time you felt vulnerable?

Borat takes on dating

In celebration of my marathon completion, here’s an awesomely funny video on Borat & Dating:

Game Dae Wednesdae: 2009 Goals

So Daily Blog Tips, put out a fun group writing assignment for bloggers to post their 2009 internet goals. This got me thinking about not only my goals on the web, but also my personal goals. Goals are awesome! I work really, really well with goals and deadlines because I can see it in the horizon and punch it out. Yes, I’m an ultra nerd like that. I thought this group assignment is fun to share with you. So here’s my list for internet goals and personal goals:

1. To get 1 of my videos featured on YouTube
2. To reach 2,000 RSS subscribers
3. Triple my youTube subscribers to 15,000
4. Publish a fun ‘Vanae’s Tips of the Dae’ desktop calendar
5. Launch my ‘Hugs Around the World’ campaign
6. Write a 2nd V’book
7. Complete another marathon

Vanae’s tip of the dae: List out your 2009 goals and post it up on your wall so that you can see them every morning when you wake up! It’ll motivate you to get closer to your goal and be able to cross it off the list.

What are your 2009 goals?

You need to be rich to get him/her

I’m definitely not talking about rich-money wise! I’m talking about rich in life! Rich in experience and travels!

The more enriched you are with life and it’s goodness, the more you can share, build interesting stories and relate to people. It’ll bring this aura about you…Most importantly, it’s for yourself, so:

1. TRAVEL
I find global people, very intriguing because of their capacity to understand people and thirst for adventure. There’s so many amazing cultures and experiences waiting for you. GO FOR IT!

2. INDULGE IN HOBBIES
Not only does this give you a balance to your life of work and play, but it’s a healthy outlet. Having fun hobbies also reflect who you are and she/he would love to hear all about it!

3. VOLUNTEER
Give yourself. This is a sure way to fill your life up with more meaning and connect with people. Your compassion will lead your heart in the right direction.

4. LAUGH
Take yourself lightly and laugh. Go to comedy clubs. Reminisce great memories with friends. Watch Dave Chappelle’s ‘Killing Them Softly’. Visit failblog.org. Laugh at the simple little things

Vanae’s tip of the dae: Live a rich life because happiness and depth is priceless. Go beyond your boundaries and absorb as much life as possible! I know I did, when I completed my marathon this past Sunday in Honolulu. All the people who stood in the rain at 6am to cheer us on! All the costumes that the marathoners were wearing. The 10 year old sons who ran along the side of mom and dad in the race. Most of all, pursuing and completing one of my life goals with all my loved ones and memories as fuel to the finish line.
