How to ask her out while she’s working

She’s cute. You’ve been having 30 sec conversations with her every other day at her work. That’s because she works at your local store, gym, deli, coffee shop, etc. And you want to ask her out without making it awkward since she’s working.

Here’s my recent conversation with a friend on how to do this cleverly:

My friend: so, cute girl @ sandwich shop. slightly flirtatious. she knows me by name now. not sure how to ask her out – i feel awkward doing so when there’s a line of ppl behind me and she is surrounded by coworkers. do you have any suggestions on the best way to proceed here?

Vanae: ah. do something clever

My friend: i’ve never asked someone out on the job before

Vanae: like if she’s asking you ‘how you’re doing..or how you’ve been? tell her, ‘secretly planning to take over the world’. SMILE. slip her a piece of paper that says ‘would love to tell you my secret plan over dinner’ include your phone number. something like that.

My friend: very nice

Vanae: it’s clever. cute and flattering. less intrusive

My friend: yeah, i had a feeling it would involve something written down. very clever, i like it

We like notes slipped to us, because it’s flattering and mysterious. Reminds us of grade school. Also, shows how smooth you are.

You’re exactly right, Vanae. I sent a note once to a barista in which I claimed to have the secret for a post-caffeine world. What was best that she didn’t call me at the number straightaway but sent a text message. Then another. The texting went on for two weeks, was flirty and then sexy. We finally agreed to meet for lunch — which was great and went on for hours. And then led to dinner. The note was a perfect start.

The idea is definitely smooth but not everyone will be able to pull it off. The important thing is remembering to be confident and not worrying about looking stupid

I was also going to say to slip her a note, albeit not as creatively as your suggestion lol

I’ll try to use this advice, but I am not sure. I’ll have to keep making conversation until she is comfortable.
