Holding Hands While Sleeping

Your eyes are resting, as you turn in towards your significant other. The bed…tangled in the blanket with cold feet and arms’ angles. Cuddled up, warm and you find yourself reaching for his/her hand. Complete. Smiling. Then, falling asleep.

For some couples, this is a must, to go to bed. For others, holding hands while sleeping is too cheesy. What say you?

yes for me that’s kinda sweet.. for me that’s good.. so that your partner will know that you really care about her and that is not a one night thing.. but still it depends on who you sleep with.. if you want it to be serious then show her.. by that simple gesture i think it will be a good start right? :D

There are two aspects about holding hands that I’d like to touch upon….

    1. There’s a certain sensuality about holding hands while sleeping that is on the lower end of the haptics spectrum while sharing the same bed. It’s that little bit of sharing that you do with that person that let’s them know “hey I’m here with you”

    2. Comfortability-depending on the temperature it might not be the most comfortable to be as close and all up on eachother throughout the whole night…. Sometimes people just want their own space. I’m a fan of the whole spoonage situation, but for how long???

Umm not sure if I’m a big fan of holding hands when sleeping. Definitely okay with cuddling/spooning while going to bed, but once sleep kicks I need my space. Holding hands while watching movies, going for a walk, having dinner – AYE! Sleeping – NAY!

In reality, its cheesy. In my opinion, I think its better than cuddling due to secure reasons. For most of our lives we sleep by ourselves in an individual bed. When someone else enters our personal sleeping space, we feel subconsciously uncomfortable that another presence, whether they’re familiar or not, is entering our space. We feel the need to defend ourselves like pushing them out of our space or keep subconsciously making them feel uncomfortable by hitting them.

Even though these are examples of reasons not to be comfortable, there are some exceptions to this like feeling a certain something within our space. An entity or object that makes us feel safe.

Overall, it would be something that is romantic, but I wouldn’t recommend for the first time while cuddling in bed.

I love holding hands in general and plain being affectionate. Falling asleep, holding hands is wonderful. Once asleep, it would be difficult to hold hands throughout the whole night and a bit weird.
