Any one event can be a jump start to change, but taking that one step is always the hardest part. For me, that one step...

Game Dae Wednesdae: Skills

What is something you’ve always wanted or wanted to learn?

Your health and body is your temple. A mobile temple, that you must take care of. And this is why I’m making a point to put my health first and be really active. Recently on my facebook and twitter, I posted that I would like to get personal trainer lessons in exchange for my life & dating coaching. Good trade, ay?

With an economy like this, more and more, people are exchanging their skills and services. We all have great skills, so why not share them? Just like back in the days in a village.

This made me curious…

What is your skill?
and what you service/skill would you like to gain in exchange?

POST IT IN A COMMENT BELOW. THIS COULD BE A SKILL BULLETIN BOARD.

PS- If you are or know of a Bay Area personal trainer…let me know!
=)

Vanae’s tip of the dae: Gain a skill, an experience or something you’ve been wanting to do for a while. Think outside the box! Be resourceful! Everything doesn’t have to be paid for in money. Experiences, connections and relationships are worth more than that.

Vanae… I have acquired many skills through my days in the Marine Corps. Leadership is the biggest among many that I have strive to constantly develop and strive to perfect, but the perfection is cannot be achieved because every situation and/or task is different.

Oh.. I can be your personal trainer =D… Do you want muscles? I can get you some muscles… do you want a six pack? I can get you a six pack. A lot conditioning is essential before you strive for your fitness goal.

Well I once exchanged skills with my cousin. I taught him how to cook (so he wouldn’t burn the kitchen down like he usually does) and he taught me how to play guitar hero :) one thing I’d probably like to learn to do is fly a plane.

I have excellent ninja skills, but you will never see them, because one of those skills is stealth. ;)

Skill I would like: large (keelboat) cruising certification. Why? Because I have a job offer in the Cayman Islands. The catch is, I have to date the guy’s niece. I’ve seen photos. Something tells me it wouldn’t end well, and I’d need a getaway plan. A small boat won’t cut it. Not sure what skill I’d trade for that. Right now I’m offering my math skills in exchange for a two-four of beer and $300, for helping a math-poor marine biologist track great white sharks.

Ha, cool. I’m a hacker and know my way around most of the computers out there. So lately, instead of using my skills for evil, I’ve been using them for good and making a buck along the way. Recently though, a friend asked me to secure their wireless router and in exchange I got 4 free movie tickets. Totally awesome, cuz I love movies and router security is easy!!!

Okay…um I have a lot of skills…I’m very well-versed in martial arts, but I never seem to hang onto sparring partners for very long, so I never really get challenged because by the time one gets good enough to give me a run for my money, they leave. So my skill would be martial arts instruction, in exchange for a rocking sparring partner…lol. Yeah…

I’m a massage therapist! I’m not all too sure what I’d trade it for, but a nice meal is always a good tradeoff if it’s a friend and they aren’t paying me.
