Game Dae Wednesdae: Greatest accomplishment

One of the keys to happiness is: appreciation

Appreciation of loved ones.
Appreciation of nature.
Appreciation of life.
Appreciation of yourself and what you’ve accomplished.

One of my accomplishments is completing the Honolulu marathon because it was the most spontaneous and biggest mental/physical challenge I endured. This experience kicked me into healthy-gear. But my greatest accomplishment is rising from hardships, to now, being able to spend most of my day empowering others for strength and happiness!

I’m curious of what yours is…whether it be graduating, creating something, mending a relationship, a state of being….What is your greatest accomplishment?

WINNERS OF LAST WEEK’S GAME: Sterling & John! Congrats! and see you at my workshop!

The first thing that comes to mind is when I first started my business in retail and wholesale.

I started my business about 11 years ago working out of a van initially. Within 2 months of starting I had a serious car accident but fortunately no one was hurt except the vehicles. The vehicles were complete write-offs.

Having a positive mind I did not give-up and continued building my business despite the bad luck I had just endured.

About 5 months down-the-track in disbelief my new vehicle was stolen with about $8000 dollars worth of products inside. It was probably enough to send anybody over the edge.

But as usual with my optimistic outlook on life, I persevered and never lost hope of having a successful business.

Eleven years on, I now own a very lucrative business and have never looked back. This is by far one of my biggest accomplishments. I remember a close friend of mine telling me, “Cesar I admire your positive attitude considering all the bad luck you experienced when you started your business you never gave up.”

BTW, the one thing I appreciate the most is Vanae’s beauty and personality. “If you don’t mind me saying so!”

I’ve had a lot of things I am very proud of, but probably my biggest one was that I completed a year-long improv program and our class graduated on the main stage at Second City. I had always been deathly afraid of talking in front of groups…at my graduation I was getting laughs in front of the group. It was an amazing feeling…I’ll never forget that.

today I graduated from my university. It was really hard, but i made it. I’m really proud of myself. I’m not a native speaker, so for me language was really big problem. everything was really hard. from now im gonna have confidence of myself.

I was 10 years old and I can remember my mom buying me a pink notebook. One day I got so mad at someone I grabbed the notebook and started furiously writing about how I felt It felt really good to let my emotions out and that day I filled up pages and pages. After awhile I realized I loved to write and at 10 years old I remember thinking that I was gonna be this famous author one day. Then at 12 I discovered that I really loved to compose music so I figured I’d be a composer too. Well flash forward 6 years later and I’m not a famous author or a major composer. During the course of my Highschool years I wasn’t one of those kids that got high marks on everything. I had alot of trouble with my schoolwork but I never stopped studying or striving towards those goals I did manage to write 3 books and compose quite a few tracks but my next goal is actually get published and perhaps get some recognition for my songs. Since I graduated Highschool a few weeks ago I guess I can say that I am most proud of the fact that I didn’t waste my highschool years away :)

I want to say it was walking on to my college track team and making “varsity”, and if I had walked on a couple weeks earlier I would have ran in the NCAA XC championships. And in a couple months I’ll have my PhD. But my biggest accomplishment has been socially. For everyone out there who struggles with dating and confidence: if you are patient and persistent, and you follow Vanae’s advice and take risks, you can be a radically different person in 6-12 months. My biggest accomplishment was taking risks and making that transformation a few years ago. My life has been radically enriched through the friendships I’ve made and relationships attempted. Few people would have considered me shy, yet I’ve changed in positive ways. It doesn’t matter where you are at. You can possess greater abundance in all of your relationships — in quantity and quality — and my biggest accomplishment was reaching out and grasping on to those things. That, and learning how to breakdance :) .

  11. Sebastian says:

There’re many individual accomplishments of which I’m proud of of. However, at a more fundamental level, my greatest accomplishment to date is a love of life. Regardless of challenges/lessons that I’ve experienced I’m proud of myself for learning and growing as a result of experiencing them, rather than feeling sorry for myself.

  12. shady says:

my greatest accomlishment is that I’m still alive , you know , life is hard ! ^_^

  13. supatramp says:

I think finding an Identity was my greatest accomplishment. During my gradeschool I was practically lost in translation with everyone. But coming into college (one of my great accomplishments) everyone there had something in common which was a passion for art. there I could be whatever and no one would judge, whereas in highschool being independent and different didn’t mix with most of the crowd so I had to be grounded and secure. Art college gave me the opportunity to explore my different, unique sides, But I also like to thank grade school for making me into the atypical person that I am :)

  14. Keith says:

    No accomplishments to speak of…YET

  15. Bim says:

Funny I was asking this question to mylself and had to ponder for a long time.

I came to a conclusion that I can enumerate all the accomplishments (and frustrations) in my life but would not be able to choose what is the greatest.

I have found happiness and complacency with what I have…. my wife and kids, a job and the security I provide them.

Going back to the question what is my greatest accomplishment? I will yet to find out on my death bed when I look back seeing how I have raised my children and have families of their own and realize i have not failed to have provided and brought them up properly.

That will be my greatest accomplishment. I am only 29 and I have a life time to achieve it.

Be happy folks! And remember “the secret to contentment is enjoying what you have”

      hey bim,
i really liked your response. i think we all wonder…on our death bed, waht would we think of our life thus far?

      how old are your kids?

        Hi Vanae,
I was not expecting a reply from you. i was thinking more of the the readers who would read it.

My eldest daughter is 8 and my youngest is 21 months.

I am guessing you are probably born when your parents did not bother you wearing a helmet and a knee pad, watched sesame street and know who snuffalafagus is. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 100 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround stereo, no IPOD’s, no cellphones, no computers, no Internet, no chat rooms, and no Friendsters. …… ….WE HAD REAL FRIENDS and we went outside to actually talk and play with them!

        Early 1980′s.

There are couple defining moments but one big one was attending my cousins wedding in Newport Beach. Just something about that ceremony re-vamped me and made me appreciate my surroundings and the people around me as well inspired me to look forward to the day when i’d be up there.

  17. martin says:

You mentioned that rising from hardships was your greatest accomplishment, maybe mine too. Can you elaborate on this, or would you please? How I affect other people in a positive way would be mine if I think about it. Thanks for Vanae.com.
