Q. Hey Vanae
I broke up with my ex about over a year now. It took me awhile to get over her, which got me really stressed out and depressed but through the help of my friends I was able to let things go. Back in February I got an email from my ex…she asked me if I ever tried calling her and I just replied by saying No. But ever since then I’ve been having dreams about her and in those dreams her and I get back together. Am I having those dreams because that’s what I want to happened or is it some other reason?

Remember your dream of that fried twinkie that did jumping jacks…then morphed into your mom? I’m kidding, but you know…dreams can be random. Dreams don’t mean anything, unless you apply meaning to them. It’s like that time that two my exs had opposite dreams of me. It doesn’t mean that one of my exs wants to kill me and the other wants to get back with me.
Dreams may reflect your sub-conscious, but you’ll never be sure since it’s your sub-conscious. Instead, focus on the present- your reality. The real question is “What do you want?”. You have the power to make your choice and any other decisions. And it sounds like you’re doing a good job of moving forward, so:
1. Stick to what is healthy for you.
2. Follow your gut feeling.
3. Consciously make your choice.
V’stars, have you ever dreamt of your ex? What did you make of it?
Vanae is right about this. One thing about “dreams” that I believe to be true is that your mind is organizing memories and thoughts so that it runs a little more smoothly. Ever de-frag your computer? That’s a part of what dreams are, your brain de-fragging itself.
Ever had a dream about people you’ve never seen or met before? Those might have a hidden meaning. Who knows for sure right?
Just remember the most important thing of all is that you have the choice to do whatever about whatever right? It’s your one TRUE freedom.

I definitely have those dreams of unfamiliar faces and wonder how my mind/imagination conjure up these physical traits though I’ve never seen these people in real life.
Vanae’s right, move on, there’s nothing to see here. The trickiest thing about thinking, dreaming or wondering about an ex; is that you only remember the good stuff about them in hindsight, because who wants to remember bad stuff? The reality is you broke up for a real reason and there’s no use in ever going back there again. I learned it the hard way with a girl going back and forth about it and now that’s a year in my life I’m never getting back.

how was your experience with them?
Vanae is completely right here. I’ve had dreams of my exes before. But I never did find out what they meant. I mean I’m completely happy in the relationship I’m now, but occasionally an ex pops into a dream of mine. But I know it doesn’t mean anything.
I have a firm belief that no matter what you do, someone who you shared your heart with, will always hold a piece of it. But you can’t let that stop you from moving forward in life. So just keep moving forward and you’ll be just fine. =]

its not so much a dream of an ex but a girl i met. she was buetiful,nice,and had the loveliest voice. ever sence then i dreampt about her evryonce in a while. like yesterday i was dreaming and then in my dream i gave the thing that brought us together in the dream. (dot going to say what it was because dream wasnt so much a love fantasy) so then after that the dream was over. sense then i could never remember her face and i just new she was the one and that we would run into each other again. i just new it and now im woried that ill never see her again. (ive ran into her more than one time) but i guess theres nothing i can do about it.

I don’t know about all this. Although most dreams I agree are random, I feel like recurring dreams often do have some meaning behind them. Recurring dreams to me, are your subconscious trying to tell you something, much like the UPS man, it’s trying to deliver a package to you, and until you answer the door to receive it he keeps reappearing, trying to give it to you!
I recently started having dreams about my recent ex and my recent rebound guy. In the dreams I am always in the backseat of a car with one of them, and in each dream I kiss the boy involved. In each one the guy also wants to get back with me in some way and I don’t, however I have no problem with getting back with them. I analyzed these dreams with my best friends and have since stopped having them, deciding that I was probably dealing with the stress of being single and deciding what I REALLY want from life!
