Our emotions and life occurrences is on a roller coaster ride…it goes up and down…it fluctuates. But enjoy the ride!
We are where we need to be.
All of us have gone through really low parts of our lives. But how do you distinguish when you’re feeling down vs. having depression? And what can you do about it? Part 2 of special series with Dr. Adam is discussing the symptoms of depression, mild vs. major depression, and what to do if you do have it.
I have a close friend who went through mild depression and didn’t know that until she saw a therapist to help her recognize that. She began exercising, eating healthy and now she’s much happier and healthier.
V’stars, have you or known someone who went through depression?
Depression not only affects the individual but their loved ones who surround them. So if you know of someone who may be depressed:
1. Reach out. Show them that you care by listening, non-judgmentally.
2. Suggest seeing a professional (therapist or counselor) for solutions.

I love that you are talking about many different aspects of self develop and dating. And honestly i was looking forward to see this video.
After very painful broke up couple months ago and through the times when i tried to work it out, everyday when i wake up in the morning i feel like i wanna sleep more. I dont feel like do anything else and i realized that im running away from the things which used be my passion. Do you think i can have a depression or i just became lazy ?
i my opinion everyone deals with depression i think that therapist and counselors are no help and only add to the problem or make you have one they are no help and only keep you in the same spot rather than moving forward and solving the problem also they add to the growing prescription drug abuse by miss diagnosing people but mainly this society preys on your insecurities making you think you are never good at being who you are
Hey V-Stars!
Just in case you missed this great video, I invite you to view it and see what a big difference it can make in your life.
Whether you are going through good or bad times, LIFE is Still Wonderful when you really think about it.
I remember seeing this particular movie a while ago, unfortunately I cannot remember its name, where someone says, ,“It’s better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.”
So true I think!
Anyway here is the link to the video…

I can’t emphasize how well excercise and socializing works.
I went through a breakup with my ex-fiance about 8 months ago and started feeling depressed, so I began jogging with my friends and got back on my mountain bike. I even ran in the 10K OC Mud Run. This worked incredibly well because I was more focussed on working towards achievements rather than my loss. And yes, I was absolutely in love with my ex, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked her to marry me and remained engaged for 5 yrs (Yeah, I know…should have seen the signs).
Also, I don’t see how people can say they’re too busy to be active because I often work double shifts 5 – 7 days per week and I am still able to make time to get out there.
Hey Chuck, I love your positive outlook! Keep It Up My Friend As All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait!!!
Thanks for the kind words Cesar!
+1 for exercising.. not only did it help after my ex GF dumped me but the next time my ex GF and her friends saw me they couldnt get over how hot I had gotten, while she gained weight LOL!
I know scientifically it releasing endorphins if anyone was curious
The topic of depression brings to mind two types.
clinical depression-which is the type, I assume; is the type of depression that someone feels, & don’t know why.
&
induced depression-which is a voluntarilty or involuntarily caused depression. An example would be, that: one person, would assume another person would be depressed about something, & re-inforce that.
I would like to comment to the “good doctor” that rationals deal with things people should be depressed about very well.
Also, kudos to vanae for getting a Clinical Psychologist on her site. I’m a big fan of psychology.
