the other night, on a dark hill in san jose, i saw you but i didn’t say much. once again, i was fascinated. i just marveled at your beauty and thought about what i’ve been up to since the last time i saw you. i, then, realized that i’ve been ignoring you as i did to my innocence…and i’m sorry. but now that i discovered you again, i promise to see you more often. thanks so much for always being there for me. i will see you soon.
your long lost friend,
vanae
ps- thanks for the two shooting stars to let me know that you were watching me. i made a wish. i hope it comes true.
vanae’s tip of the dae: when was the last time you looked at the stars? tonight! drive up a nearby hill or climb your roof and search for the northstar. you’ll marvel at the sky, feel small compared to the universe and your lil worries of what you thought was important..will melt away. let the stars help you reflect on life.
Awesome,
you are such a creative woman.
Hi Vanae,
I just stumbled upon your youtube page and read this comment about looking up at the stars. After reading this blog post, i remembered one of the most memorable moments in my life when i was looking up at the stars in New Zealand during vacation and I saw stars and constellations on a clear dark (with no light pollution) that I would never ever see in CA…The world does seem small, but shows that the Earth is more precious than I believed…sometimes I go to the local planetarium and attend the community star gazing events because its a great experience to see the stars from a clearer perspective…thanks for the post!
Last week, I discovered the stars again. There was a time when it was a ritual for me. Upon arriving home, I would park my car, get out..go inside my yard, pause..and look up. You know that feeling you get don’t you? At first you are amazed..the sheer beauty of the speckled night sky reflects in your eyes like diamonds in a mine. At that moment of sheer wonderment you catch yourself and ask yourself “why I am amazed at this?” You realize the distance of yourself from this midnight canvas is a lifetime away but what you see above you tonight makes you feel so grounded, so close to the earth. It is then that you realize how small you really are; in the grand scheme of life on earth you are a faint whisper of reality. It doesn’t matter if you are the most powerful person on earth or one of our most unfortunate souls; everyone one of us can look to the sky and realize we are blessed to see this sight and realize we are even more blessed to share it with someone else who understands.
More people need to take a moment at the end of their day to look up. It grounds you, it clears your head and if anything..it makes you smile.
wow =)
