never buy pre-made sushi from markets or grocery stores (mollie stone’s, safeway, etc). what do they know about sushi? apparently nothing…especially if they’re mexican.
i’ve been craving for sushi so during lunch today, desperate-me reached for the sushi at the grocery market. not only did it not satisfy my hunger, but the quality of the ingredients weren’t great.
yes, sushi at markets are cheap and accessible. but you get what you pay for. so lessson learned. only get sushi from sushi restaurants.

ps- i’m kidding about the mexican part. most great restaurants in the bay area have mexican /chefs.

The itchiness is not caused directly by the piercing proboscis or the chemicals in the mosquito spit but by the body’s immune response to them. Your immune system releases histamine, a protein involved in many allergic reactions, in order to fight off a foreign substance. The histamine causes swelling around the puncture wound as blood rushes to the affected area, and as a side effect makes you itch. The histamine response speeds healing, so taking antihistamine drugs for relief of symptoms caused by mosquito bites is not necessarily a good idea.
finally, the people of america were able to get their questions and concerns addressed by the presidential candidates at the youtube debate. it was fantastic to see the usage of technology to bring the voice of our people, to the faces of these politicians and getting some answers!
there were youtube videos of people asking about sex education with age-appropriate education, social security, gun control, public school vs. private, taxes, and more!
my favorite video- 2 ladies asking the panel- would you work your presidential term in minimum wage? most of the candidates said ‘yes’. obama had a great answer saying that most of the individuals on the stage could afford to take a minimum salary, but it’s the common people that you need to address this issue with.
i was hooked for hours watching these youtube debate clips. helped shaped my opinions on each candidate, narrowing down to the one that’ll receive my vote.

last night, i went to a very fun bachelorrette party for melodie, a good high school friend. i’m so happy for her and for us, as we rekindle our friendships with other girlfriends from high school. with these wonderful ladies, i had a fabulous thai dinner at osha (2nd st in SF) and then went dancing at Slide. such a high..mostly due to great company and fond reminiscing.
then i woke up this morning by a phonecall from my mom. my aunt just passed away from her tough struggle with cancer. she was the closest sibling to my mom and she was the sweetest aunt. and just like that…she’s gone and i’ll be gone… to boston in a couple of days for her memorial.
life has its ups and downs, ins and outs..no less than a roller coaster ride at six flags amusement park. but you roll with it. deal, learn and grow. and for these times you need a lil pick-me-up like:
when i was 8 years old, i killed a baby sparrow. i found a baby sparrow in my backyard and wanted to teach it how to fly so i threw it up in the air. then it became my playmate, as i let it slide down my playset. the next morning, i found it very still. not breathing. i cried for 3 days straight.
